Both cars have all the features you would expect such as, for safety, anti-lock brakes (ABS) and multiple air bags, and for comfort, multi way adjustable seats and air conditioning. Health and safety rules apply, and first aid kits carried. Please click on pictures to enlarge them so you can get a better look.

The previous manual school car, a diesel Corsa 1.3 CDTi, has been replaced with a Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 SE. Pupils who drove both said that due to the ‘diesel surge’ of its
predecessor, they preferred the current petrol car, which provides a greater sense of being in control, making them feel more confident.

Here is what it looks like sitting in the driving seat or ‘cockpit’ of the Corsa. The first thing you will need to learn before driving any car is how to complete the ‘cockpit drill’.
To help keep you safe both cars are fitted with dual controls. On the Corsa this means an additional clutch and brake pedal on the passenger, or instructor side, which you can see in the picture.

The automatic school car is a Toyota Yaris Hybrid 1.5 Icon Tech. This an eco friendly self charging hybrid
car with an efficient 1.5 litre petrol engine and an electric motor than can take over at lower speeds.

The CVT transmission is fully automatic, making it impossible to stall. Having no gears means it uses engine power more economically, is completely smooth when accelerating, and hill starts are simple.
On the right is the cockpit of the Yaris which has a number of additional control features such as automatic wipers and main beam. There are also
front parking sensor and a reversing camera. On the left you can see the dual control brake in the passenger foot well which helps me to keep you safe.
Sometimes Jeff, Tamsin Toyota & Connie Corsa dress up (yes, all cars have names!). Here Tamsin and the previous Corsa ‘Connor’ are all spotty for The Big Learner Relay for BBC Children in Need. This year it could be you driving a spotty car in the relay.

This is Austin the final member of the Jeff’s Driving School fleet. He dates from my childhood in the 1960’s but now makes a fantastic teaching aid, particularly to help demonstrate parking manoeuvres.
